Mauritius named best honeymoon spot

The recent TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best Awards has crowned the picturesque African island of Mauritius as the World’s Best Honeymoon Destination for 2025.

As reported by IOL, Mauritius took the top spot, beating out other honeymoon favourites like Bali and the Maldives, who came second and third, respectively.

The Travelers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best title celebrates the highest level of excellence in travel.

It’s awarded to destinations and establishments who receive a high volume of above-and-beyond reviews and opinions from the Tripadvisor community over a 12-month period.

Richard Duval, Minister of Tourism in Mauritius, was truly proud of this significant recognition.

“This accolade reflects Mauritius’s commitment to providing an unparalleled experience for honeymooners.” Duval said as per IOL.

“Our island offers more than just beautiful beaches, it’s a destination where luxury meets authenticity, creating perfect moments for couples starting their life journey together.” Duval added.

“Mauritius is arguably Africa’s wealthiest destination, a tropical paradise with tons to do. Port Louis, the modern capital of this 38-mile by 29-mile island, is a bustling port with a revitalized waterfront and a busy market. But most visitors gravitate toward resort areas such as Mont Choisy, quiet Trou-aux-Biches and the more bustling Flic en Flac, popular with scuba divers. Rivière Noire is ideal for those looking for great deep-sea fishing.” TripAdvisor wrote.
