‘Amanda’s comments have significantly affected the brand’ – MacG
In 2021, Jub Jub went on MacG’s podcast and claimed that actress Amanda Du-Pont was one of the girls he “smashed” in the past.
Du-Pont responded to the controversial interview with her version of events. In a video on her Instagram page, the actress claimed that Jub Jub had repeatedly raped her over two years.
Du-Pont laid rape charges against Maarohanye in February 2022.
Speaking to The Citizen, MacG said he felt vindicated after the NPA’s decision.
“Yes. I feel somewhat vindicated. However, the vindication is mostly for Jub Jub, who was on our platform to speak his truth. For me, it’s less about personal vindication since I had no fear about the heinous and malicious utterances she made about me,” MacG told The Citizen.

Affecting the brand
He claimed the podcast had lost sponsorships over the saga.
“Amanda’s comments have significantly affected the brand. The cancellation we experienced after her remarks still comes up in meetings, and it continues to impact our future earnings. It’s not just about past losses but also the ongoing impact on our business,” said MacG.
“We would have been so far ahead had she have been more responsible in her approach, instead of responding out of emotion on a live stream in an attempt to assassinate Both Jub Jub and I’s character,” said MacG.
Attempts to contact Du-Pont for comment was unsuccessful at the time of publishing. Any update will be included once recieved.
On the latest episode of Podcast and Chill MacG claimed that he attempted to sue the actress for what she said, but the case was allegedly thrown out.
Du-Pont served MacG with court papers after his lawyers summoned her to apologise for falsely accusing him of rape and requested a “round table meeting”.
In the legal papers that circulated on social media, Du-Pont’s legal representatives said the actress refuses to apologise for the remarks she made in a statement she shared on her social pages after the airing of the Jub Jub episode on Podcast and Chill.

“Your clients proceeded to laugh with Mr Maarohanye about the latter’s plan to take our client’s virginity (which, for the record was taken without her consent) … your clients’ above conduct constituted civil injuria as well as crimen injuria against our client.”
MacG said he’ll most likely not pursue the matter any further.
“This has been ongoing for years and I personally want to put it to rest and focus on what we do best, unless my legal team advises otherwise.”

Podcast and Chill’s growth
MacG recently returned from the US where he attended the USA Shisanyama weekend and the BET awards.
“We’ve met and engaged with the likes of Ray J, Akon, TI, LL Cool J, Fridayy, and so many more artists and actors from the states who have indicated a strong interest in being a part of the platform,” shared MacG.
“We’re creating a name for ourselves in that part of the world, and We aim to make this an annual trip so we can take our platform to different parts of the world.”
The podcast also embarked on a nationwide tour in South Africa, where episodes of the podcast were shot in front of a live audience.
“Seeing them show up in large numbers still gives me goosebumps, cause never in our wildest imagination did we think the podcast would grow this big.”
The Live Nation tour went to seven provinces.
“Every year, we aim higher. All provinces were amazing in their own right, so it’s hard to pick one. The energy from the Chillers in these cities was incredible. The love is real.”
The first Podcast and Chill episode aired in July 2018 and despite its controversies, it has grown to become the continent’s biggest in numbers.
The growth has come with employment opportunities for young creatives too.
“Our team now includes around 46 people. The movement is ordained by God himself and we are grateful that we can continue to make an impact in the lives of our team and create employment for young, gifted black people in SA.”
