Key Responsibilities

As a Machine Washbay Attendant, your duties will include:

  • Washing Procedures : Applying correct methods and using appropriate chemicals for cleaning different materials.
  • Inspection : Ensuring parts meet cleanliness, quality, and damage-free standards.
  • Cleaning Tasks : Using tools like scrapers, brushes, and chemical cleaners to scrub, scrape, and spray parts.
  • Safe Chemical Handling : Mixing and using hazardous cleaning solutions following safety protocols.
  • Operating Cleaning Machines : Proficiently managing Bupi, Proceco, sandblasting, and pressure-washing machines.
  • Material Transport : Safely using forklifts and cranes to move parts in and out of cleaning areas.
  • Inventory Management : Keeping track of cleaning supplies and ensuring proper stock levels.
  • Facility Maintenance : Maintaining cleanliness and safety standards in the workplace.
  • Pre-Wash Procedures : Preparing parts for cleaning with efficient and safe methods.

Safety and operational excellence

  • Daily Equipment Checks : Ensuring forklifts, cranes, and cleaning tools are in optimal working condition.
  • 6S Standards : Maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly workspace.
  • Problem Reporting : Notifying supervisors of any machine malfunctions.
  • Assembly Line Understanding : Collaborating with the team to prioritize and schedule tasks.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Education : Minimum Grade 12 (Matric).
  • Skills :
    • Strong hand-eye coordination.
    • Physical resilience and stamina.
  • Certifications :
    • Ability to obtain forklift operator certification within 90 days of appointment.
    • Ability to obtain overhead/jib crane operator certification within 90 days of appointment.
  • Driver’s License : Code B (advantageous).
  • Competencies :
    • Ability to follow instructions under supervision.
    • Verbal comprehension and good communication skills.
