We are currently seeking to recruit a skilled Billing Clerk for our Irene Hospital (Pty) Ltd based in Centurion. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the seamless operation of our billing processes, providing excellent customer service, and contributing to our mission of delivering high-quality healthcare.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE BILLING CLERK

• Accurate Stock Management:
• Capture all ward, theatre, and gas stock accurately within set timeframes.
• Authorization Verification:
• Ensure that all authorization documents are correct and completed, verifying with medical aid for account details, including payment dates and amounts.
• Timely Billing:
• Carry out billing processes within eight hours after patient discharge to ensure a smooth transition for patients and timely revenue collection.
• Charge Sheet Capturing:
• Capture charge sheets accurately within a strict 24-hour timeframe, ensuring all updates are made as required.
• Coding & Compliance:
• Properly apply relevant ICD10 and CPT4 codes on accounts, ensuring compliance with authorizations and estimates.
• Inventory Assistance:
• Assist in conducting cyclic and annual stock counts, maintaining records and accuracy.
• Stock Ordering & Management:
• Oversee daily stock ordering processes to maintain minimum stock levels, prepare internal purchase orders, receive stock, and manage consignment stock effectively.
• Procurement Support:
• Aid in the procurement of stock and necessary equipment as required by the facility.
• Linen and Laundry Management:
• Maintain linen counts and oversee all laundry activities for the hospital unit.
• Stationery & Consumables Control:
• Organize the ordering, receiving, and management of stationery, consumables, and printing supplies.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION

• Education:
• Minimum: Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
• Experience:
• Previous medical billing experience is preferred.
• Knowledge:
• Familiarity with ICD10 and CPT4 coding is highly advantageous.
• Skills:
• High level of accuracy and ability to work effectively under pressure.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage with patients and healthcare professionals effectively.
• Technical Knowledge:
• Knowledge of AS400 systems is advantageous.
