Age

Boity Thulo, who grew up under the care of her maternal grandmother, was born in Potchefstroom, North West, on April 28, 1990. (Age 34, as of 2024). Her mother is Modiehi Thulo.

Education

Thulo pursued a degree in psychology and criminology at Monash University. Unfortunately, she had to drop out because her mother was unable to afford the tuition fees.

However, her fortunes changed when she signed up with a casting agency, which led to her appearance in a Wimpy commercial in 2010.

Career

Film And Television

Thulo started her career in television by presenting the educational program “Crib Notes” on YOTV in 2011. She later co-hosted The Media Career Guide Show on SABC 1, alongside Thomani Mahlaba.

She has hosted several other television shows as well, including SkyRoom Live, Ridiculousness Africa, Club 808, Zoned, Change Down, and Big Brother Africa.

Boitumelo landed her first leading role in the drama series Rockville in 2012, where she played the character “Mpho Bogatsu” throughout all four seasons.

She made her film debut in the 2014 comedy short film Dear Betty, where she played the lead role of “Betty.” Thulo also appeared in the 2016 film Mrs. Right Guy, albeit in a minor role as “Marie.”

In October 2021, Boity received a nomination for African Social Star at the 47th People’s Choice Awards, which is a remarkable achievement.

Music

Boitumelo Thulo stepped into the music industry as a rapper during the Migos Culture Tour in South Africa on 21 October 2017 at TicketPro Dome.

As Migos arrived late, Thulo performed alongside Nasty C as one of the opening acts.

Thulo released her debut single, “Wuz Dat,” featuring Nasty C on 30 August 2018, which became the first-ever single by a female rapper in South Africa to receive a platinum certification.

It was also the highest-selling single by a female rapper in the country. Thulo’s “Wuz Dat” won the award for “Best Collaboration” at the 2018 South African Hip Hop Awards, making her the first lead female rapper to achieve this feat.

She released her second single, “Bakae,” on 8 February 2019.

In October 2022, Boity headlined the Rose Fest alongside Ami Faku, Simmy, and Busiswa.

She released an EP, 4436, on 4 December 2020, which primarily focused on her and featured collaborations with Ricky Rick and other artists. The EP was nominated for Best Hip Hop album at the 27th South African Music Awards.

In 2021, Boity announced on Twitter that she had signed a recording deal with Def Jam Africa, becoming the first to do so.

On 19 August 2021, she revealed her upcoming single, “The Yano Way,” featuring Daliwonga and Felo, on Instagram.

Other Ventures

Thulo collaborated with Sissy-Boy in 2016 for a jean collection that aimed to celebrate curves and sexiness.

In July 2018, Thulo and Sissy-Boy released a new collection, continuing their partnership.

In 2018, Thulo also partnered with Impulse SA to create limited-edition fragrances. She was also featured on the cover of the September issue of Cosmopolitan SA.

In 2021, she announced the launch of her new signature beverage line called “BT Signature,” which includes both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

Personal Life
Boitumelo Thulo was previously in an on-again, off-again relationship with rapper Cassper Nyovest. The couple got engaged, but in December 2015, they called off their engagement and ended their relationship.

Recently there have been reports that Thulo is currently in a relationship with actor Anton Jeftha.

The South African presenter and artist is believed to be valued around R30 Million.

Her market value continues to rise as she continues to shine in the industry.
