Sales of a book by Jim Murphy have skyrocketed to the top of Amazon’s best-seller list after Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver AJ Brown was seen reading it during a crucial playoff game. Cameras caught the footballer reading the book on the sidelines during the Eagles’ victory over the Green Bay Packers.

Brown’s reading goes viral

Brown was shown on the TV broadcast reading Inner Excellence: Train Your Mind for Extraordinary Performance and the Best Possible Life by Jim Murphy during Philadelphia’s win over the Packers, and the moment immediately went viral. 

Brown revealed that he brings the book to every game, according to CBS News. He explained that he uses the book to refocus and find inner peace between plays. This intrigued fans and fuelled interest in the book and its message. The video of Brown reading the book quickly went viral, capturing the attention of viewers and sparking widespread curiosity.

Brown explained that reading Inner Excellence provides him with a sense of calm and focus during the intense pressure of NFL games. He uses the book to centre himself and prepare for the challenges ahead, demonstrating a unique approach to mental preparation within the high-stakes world of professional sports.

How did the author react?

The sudden surge in popularity has been a whirlwind experience for author Jim Murphy. He expressed his excitement, stating, ‘It’s been amazing and such a gift … I’m super excited for America to hear about Inner Excellence and what he’s learning,’ he said. He added that the book has never been that high on the best-selling list.

Murphy said he was aware Brown was reading the book but not that he was reading it at games. ‘I’ve never had a client or a pro athlete in the middle of their performance or game reading it,’ he said.
