Former Kaizer Chiefs coach Muhsin Ertugral started his tenure at Cape Town City with a 1-0 win over Amakhosi on Sunday evening.

The 65-year-old coach was named City’s coach a few days ago after the club sacked Eric Tinkler. In his first in charge, the Turkish coach was tasked with overcoming his old club which he won trophies with.

Darwin González scored the only goal in the match in the second to give the Citizens all three points at home. The Venezuelan found space on the left side of the field and ran from his half into the Kaizer Chiefs goal before firing past Bruce Bvuma.

Sunday was Amakhosi’s fourth league loss of the season after 11 matches. Cape Town City climbed to 11th and are now just a point away from Kaizer Chiefs.

Ertugral has coached Kaizer Chiefs between 1999 and 2003 where he won numerous of trophies with the Soweto giants. He returned in 2007 but his second stint only lasted two years before leaving for Ajax Cape Town.

Muhsin Ertugral won his first match as the head coach of Cape Town City against Kaizer Chiefs and that will not sit well with many fans. The Turkish coach last year did avail himself for the coaching job before Nabi was hired.

Will Nabi survive this season?
