This is no ordinary role, as it calls for a multiskilled individual who enjoys multitasking, through leveraging off our marketing, PR, merchandise, and promotions. Your core focus is to respond to enquiries, through converting them into reservations, sales and bookings to meet targets.
As a versatile individual you need to be open-minded, resilient, confident and ready to take on the unknown which can be anything from unexpected climate conditions, logistical challenges and sometimes working at events were forecasted numbers might be slow.
You will thrive on attending major events and malls to increase Cape Town Tourism’s presence and visibility within our communities, delivering on key responsibilities:
- Ability to drive sales.
- Assist walk-in and event visitors with their travel, accommodation, and entertainment bookings in addition to retail sales.
- Reference support information through utilising our IT systems, timetables, guidebooks, and reference kits
- Assist with managing and setting up banners, together with selling and restocking merchandise and equipment
- Execute tourism marketing campaigns and events
- Increase our presence within communities and facilitate member activations
- Providing an exceptional positive visitor experience is a given
Qualifications & Experience
- A higher certificate (NQF5) in a related field plus 2 years’ experience working experience within the Tourism, Travel, Events & PR Co-ordination and Management industry sector will equip you with the diverse multifaceted skill set we require of you (consideration will also be given to a business owner who has worked within any of these fields)
- IT literacy to operate on our CRM and understand our booking system, together with utilising social media to drive visitor awareness and elevate our footprint
- Adversity and adaptability to working long hours, in a highly pressurised environment comes with this territory
- Ability to drive a mobile unit 90% of the time is non-negotiable (valid SA driver’s license)
- Strong collaborative skills to market, sell and negotiate
