Purpose Statement

Join Capitec Bank in Stellenbosch as a Credit Intelligence Analyst and be part of an innovative team dedicated to revolutionizing the banking industry. This role offers a unique opportunity to leverage your analytical skills in credit risk management, helping us deliver smarter financial solutions to our clients.

•  Assume end-to-end responsibility for a credit intelligence workstream through:
•  Leading and guiding the delivery of complex analytical output.
• Leading the identification, development, implementation, and maintenance of new credit intelligence strategies and solutions.
• Addressing business problems relative to the credit intelligence workstream.
• Building and maintaining new statistical models to inform credit intelligence decision-making.
• Evaluate reporting and operations to see where they can improve in terms of productivity, efficiency and profitability.
• Providing guidance and technical oversight to junior team members.
• Create and implement precise management plans for every project, with attention to transparent communication at all levels.

Experience

Minimum:

   4 – 6 years’ experience in retail credit analysis (including familiarity in various programming languages, such as SQL / SAS / R / Python, descriptive and diagnostic analytics, statistical modelling, and data visualization).

· High proficiency with SQL, AWS, Azure, PowerBI and database management

· In case of Honours degree: 3 – 5 years’ experience in retail credit analysis (including SQL programming and descriptive analytics).

· Credit intelligence performance and optimizatio

Ideal: 

• Experience in credit recoveries, external debt collections, debt review environment, FMCG retail.
•  Proven ability to manage projects and PoC testing.
• Extensive experience with data visualization
• High proficiency in technical writing
• Experience with Capitec banking systems
• Experience in assuming a leadership role during a project.
• Portfolio-specific experience.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Statistics

Decision Scientist II

Location: Stellenbosch, Western Cape, ZA

Purpose Statement

• To solve business problems, create new products and services and improve processes through using the disciplines of data science, quantitative (financial) analysis, and traditional scoring techniques, translating active business data into usable strategic information.
• To look at ways of analysing and optimising data as it relates to a specific business area; framing data analysis in terms of the decision-making process for questions or business problems posed by a stakeholder. 
• To help build and deliver Capitec’s AI strategy, enabling data-led and improved business decision making. Design quantitative advanced analytics models that answer business questions and/or discover opportunities for improvement, increased revenue, or reduced costs.

Education (Minimum)

• Honours Degree in Mathematics or Statistics

Knowledge and Experience

Minimum Knowledge and Experience:
Experience:

• Length of experience required is conditional on the qualifications obtained 
• Experience in statistical (predictive and classification) model development and deployment incl. traditional scoring (logistic regression with binning and missing value replacement e.g. reject inference), machine learning (neural networks, SVM, random forests etc.), and quantitative analysis (time value of money etc.)
• General business know-how: e.g. risk, compliance, operations e.g. NCR, POPIA, SARB
• Business analysis and requirements gathering
• Working in cloud environments e.g. Azure, AWS and large relational databases 
• Experience in at least one ML language (e.g. Python or SAS Viya) 
• Functional business area (e.g. Credit) environment knowledge and experience

Knowledge:

• Understanding of state of the art statistical (predictive and classification) model development and deployment principles and techniques incl. traditional scoring (logistic regression with binning and missing value replacement e.g. reject inference), machine learning (neural networks, SVM, random forests etc.), and quantitative analysis (time value of money etc.).
• Underlying theory and application of machine learning models; able to understand underlying principles and theory. 
• Best practices for decision science such as reusability, reproducibility, continuous monitoring, etc

Team Leader: Decision Science

Purpose Statement

• To lead a decision science team, prioritising and overseeing analysis to translate active business data into usable strategic information which informs the business regarding critical and measurable credit and risk indicators.
• To ensure the delivery within the area of responsibility aligns with the objectives, plans, processes and standards of Decision Science 

Experience

Minimum:

• Over 6 years’ experience in an analytical science role, at least 3 of which in a leadership or management role requiring validating work
• Extracting and aggregating data from large relational databases
• Data mining and predictive modelling
• Stakeholder relationship engagement and management
• Responsibility for delivery in a fast moving environment
• Programming (SAS, SQL, R, Python)
