Charmaine Mtinta reportedly dropped by ‘Smoke and Mirrors’

Fan-favourite Smoke and Mirrors actress Charmaine Mtinta has reportedly been dropped by the e.tv telenovela.

Entertainment commentator Phil Mphela reports that actress Charmaine Mtinta has been fired by Smoke and Mirrors.

“Charmaine Mtinta fired. The actress playing Nomeva on etv’s hit telenovela, Smoke and Mirrors, has been dropped by the show. Though popular, a decision was made to write off the character due to some undisclosed production reasons … yes, I asked, and nobody is talking,” says Mphela.

Mtinta returned to her sangoma character as Nomeva in September after taking a break from the show.

Nomeva was turned into a zombie by Caesar’s (Hlomla Dandala) sangoma, Ngcuka (played by Albert “Ibokwe” Khoza).

Mtinta’s character found out that Caesar and Jaxon are killing the women in the community as a sacrifice.

When she went to confront the duo, their sangoma turned her into a zombie and she ran away.

The South African reached out to the e.tv telenovela on Wednesday, 4 December for a comment.

CHARMAINE MTINTA TAKES A BREAK FROM ‘SMOKE AND MIRRORS’

The Smoke and Mirrors actress Charmaine Mtinta is the second star to leave the show after legendary actor Hlomla Dandala.

Mphela revealed in August that Dandala who took over Zolisa Xaluva’s character as Caesar has left the show.

E.tv welcomed the actor for the recast role of Caesar Ngonyama in season two of the hit telenovela.

He made an appearance from the 16 April at 9pm at Caesar and Thandiswa’s wedding day.

Dandala previously revealed to IOL that playing a villainous character such as Caesar will surely bring the best out of him.

“But more than anything I’m excited to be back with the eFamily and I look forward to a real joyride as we enter the second season of the show.”

Smoke and Mirrors also recently welcomed The River alum Siyabonga Thwala to the e.tv telenovela.
