Role Context
As a Field Sales Executive at DHL, you will take on a vital role within our sales team, consulting with business owners and introducing them to the leading logistics services our company provides. This position involves owning your territory and leading the most complex and strategic negotiations, which significantly impact the financial success of DPDHL.
Your responsibilities will include maintaining a high level of customer service while nurturing existing relationships to expand business opportunities. The successful Field Sales Executive will have the acumen to monitor, review, and adjust sales strategies continually to enhance growth and profitability in the assigned territory.
Key Responsibilities
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Client Visits: Engage with all clients in your respective base within a 90-day call cycle. This means being proactive in maintaining and nurturing existing client relationships.
- Revenue Growth: Build revenue streams with current customers by evaluating and leveraging opportunities to deepen your relationships. Initiate face-to-face visits, conduct problem-solving sessions, and follow up on administrative matters to ensure client satisfaction.
- New Business Development: Examine new business potentials within existing clients during your visits. Your goal is to ensure active exploration of opportunities that could foster growth.
- Client Planning: Organize and schedule six client visits each day, encompassing maintenance visits, development discussions, and acquisition efforts. Advanced planning is necessary, and visits should be scheduled a week in advance whenever feasible.
- First Time Buyers (FTBs): Strive to obtain four First Time Buyers each month, showcasing your ability to cultivate and close new business.
- Pipeline Management: Develop and implement strategies to secure major accounts efficiently. Maintain a pipeline strength of at least 40% of total portfolio revenue at all times.
- Customer Retention: Proactively identify any risks that could jeopardize customer relationships or overall sales performance. Respond to customer concerns or complaints promptly, adhering to DHL’s procedures to minimize the potential loss of revenue while keeping the monthly customer loss rate under 10%.
- Collaborative Efforts: Work closely with the Sales, Finance, and Operations teams to maximize overall business performance and revenue growth in your territory.
- Data Management: Keep accurate records of client visits, information, sales activities, and other required data using appropriate Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools.
Minimum Requirements
To qualify for the position of Field Sales Executive, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Educational Background: A completed Matric/Grade 12 is essential, alongside a Commercial Degree/Diploma or a related qualification that showcases your academic readiness for this role.
- Professional Experience: A minimum of three years of previous experience in field sales, preferably within a related industry. Your sales track record should reflect your capabilities in driving business success.
- Licensing and Transportation: A valid driver’s license is mandatory. You should also have access to reliable transport to facilitate your client visits and business engagements.
- Communication Skills: Strong negotiation, verbal, and written communication skills are vital for success in this role. You will need the ability to articulate the value of DHL clearly and compellingly to prospective clients.
