DRIVER/TYRE MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

 Location: Isando, Johannesburg
 Job Type: Full-Time

 Purpose of the Job

We are looking for a dedicated Tyre Maintenance Technician to join our team! Your primary role will be to travel to various sites to conduct tyre maintenance, surveys, and breakdown assistance for our fleet of vehicles.

 Key Responsibilities

 Stock Management

  • Keep tyre stock locked and secured at all times.
  • Investigate and report discrepancies daily.
  • Assist with monthly stock cycle counts.

 Tyre Surveys & Maintenance

  • Drive to assigned sites to conduct tyre surveys.
  • Prioritize fleet maintenance using the provided fleet list.
  • Use Intersect Tyre Management Software (or manual documentation when offline).
  • Record brand numbers, wheel positions, tyre pressures, and tread depth accurately.
  • Ensure all vehicles and spare wheels are surveyed at least once a month.
  • Identify missing spare wheels and report to the supervisor.
  • Mark spare wheel rims with red paint for easy identification.
  • Check, torque, and secure all wheel nuts, installing indicators where needed.

 Tyre Branding & Replacement

  • Identify and brand unmarked tyres.
  • Detect and replace worn-out, punctured, or damaged tyres following SOPs.
  • Complete and submit tyre change slips daily.

 Tyre Rotations

  • Rotate tyres according to matching tread patterns.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of tyre rotations.

 Emergency Breakdown Assistance

  • Load the breakdown support vehicle with the correct tyre sizes and quantities.
  • Respond to breakdowns quickly and efficiently, ensuring adherence to South African driving regulations.
  • Complete breakdown reports and tyre change slips.
  • Transport damaged or punctured tyres back to the depot.

 Equipment, Tools & Company Assets

  • Keep tyre maintenance tablets secure when not in use.
  • Complete daily vehicle checklists and submit them to the supervisor.
  • Ensure company vehicles and keys are properly locked and secured.
  • Report accidents, damages, or defective tools immediately.
  • Submit a weekly tool checklist to the supervisor.

 Housekeeping & Safety Compliance

  • Maintain a clean work area and vehicle.
  • Follow all health & safety regulations and use the correct PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
  • Report any safety hazards or near-misses immediately.

 General Requirements

  • Adhere to company policies and procedures, including SOPs, HR policies, and dress codes.
  • Be prepared for occasional weekend work as required.

 Minimum Qualifications & Experience

 Matric (Grade 12)
 Code B driver’s license
 1-2 years of experience in heavy-duty tyre maintenance
 Physically capable of lifting heavy objects
