Job Purpose
To supply a clerical and counter service to new and existing customers for water and other services
provided at the particular location.
Key Responsibility Areas
Undertakes enquiry and counter duties to resolve customer queries and to ensure that the
services provided are in accordance with policies and standards.
- Registers, terminates and transfers accounts via counter or telephones.
- Solves consumer queries and take responsibility to update the account details.
- Investigates all bad debts outstanding.
- Authorises re-connection orders for water and electricity services on receipt of full payment.
- Compiles daily statistics of all counter queries and telephone calls.
- Loads credit authorities for water and electricity via the credit authority system to recover
outstanding debts. - Undertakes data checking, data monitoring and data capturing in order to ensure that
customer and account information is verified and correct

Essential Requirements

Job Purpose
To ensure that an efficient and accurate application process is followed and to provide a technical advisory service to the electrical contracting industry.
Key Responsibility Areas
- Investigate reported electrical shocks and the determination of the causes thereof.
- Investigate claims against eThekwini Electricity involving damage to appliances and electrical equipment owned by third parties.
- Provide advice on the requirements of the department codes of practice, S.A.B.S code of practice for the wiring of premises, Electricity supply by-laws and the application of electricity tariffs.
- Investigate into tariff selection, crossed meters, consumption queries and illegal wiring.
- Processing and monitoring of routine power enquiries, supply applications, certificates of compliance, correspondence and customer queries.
- Testing and inspection of electrical installations.
- Provide technical support to the customer service centres
- Negotiating and liaising with consulting engineers, architects, electrical contractors and consumers in connection with electricity service applications.
- Authorise removal of services where appropriate.

Essential Requirements
- Trade Tested Artisan (Electrician).
- In possession of a NTC2 or NCV3 in Electrical Engineering from a Further Education and Training College registered with the Department of Education.
- Registration as an accredited person in terms of Clause 9 of the Electrical Installation Regulation of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 1993.
- Valid motor vehicle driving license.
- 3 years relevant experience
- Computer Literacy.
