Cape Town has a lot to offer in terms of fun activities for families, especially during the holidays. Here are four things to do with kids in Cape Town this holiday.

Table Mountain cableway

Take a trip up Table Mountain to view the city from the best vantage point. The cableway has extended its operating times for the holiday season. Also, throughout the summer school holidays, kids get a free activity book with fun puzzles and games. They also offer face painting from 23 December to 3 January.

Online rates are available from R430 for adults, R280 for students, R215 for kids under 18, and R130 for South African senior citizens (60 and older).

African drumming experience

One of the most unique things to do with kids in Cape Town is Drumstruck – an interactive drumming experience led by talented percussionists at Silvermist Organic Vineyard, Constantia Nek. It is a participatory in which you can learn to play a drum while being entertained by some of the world’s best drummers. The Drumstruck cast have performed around the world.

“Delighted children and scores of adults banged away on the drum … [the] performers demonstrate not only amazing rhythmic abilities, but also enough high energy, athleticism and charisma to make a
compelling case for drumming as a future Olympic event.”

Pirate Adventure golf course activities

The Pirate Adventure golf course at Benguela Cove Wine Estate features an 18-hole outdoor course where visitors putt through caves, across footbridges, and also beneath waterfalls. The aim of the game is to get around the course in as few attempts as possible, and also to work your way through the various pirate challenges on the way.

Various rates are available, e.g. a family ticket that includes two adults and three children costs R320. Babies under six months can enter free of charge. In addition to one round of adventure golf, tickets include an hour on the splash pad.

The Benguela Cove Wine Estate is located in Hermanus.
