DARREN SCOTT’S WIFE SHARES UPDATE
Sarah-Kate Accetta, the ex-wife of Darren Scott, shared an update on his health. She revealed that he is fighting for his life, for his sons. Scott and Accetta have two sons together.
She also thanked everyone who donated towards Scott’s cancer treatment and sent messages of support. Take a look…
“Update: I cannot put into words how humbling and heartwarming it has been since I made Darren’s ‘Back-A-Buddy’ post. The boys are devastated that their Dad is very sick but have been so hopeful since watching the out pouring of well wishes in the comment sections,” she wrote.
“They do not have their own social media accounts but they open up and check my FB regularly. To them, Darren is just Dad. To South Africa, he is a radio legend. So as their Mom, to see their faces light up as the read about people sharing their fond memories with or about him, is just wonderfully tearful to watch,” she continued.
Accetta also referenced the “Ubuntu” she feels from South Africa while in the US.
“They know Darren is fighting for his life, for them. From the bottom of my heart, thank you! For every shared post, every kind comment and every donation. You are the Ubuntu that USA will never know! If you can, please donate ANY amount towards his treatment that I discussed with his oncologist, that he urgently needs to shrink the tumours. Even of it is R20 and you ask 9 friends to match you, anything is deeply appreciated,” she added.
WHAT HAPPENED TO DARREN SCOTT?
According to Times Live, Scott been battling melanoma for more than 38 years. The former radio host left to the US in 2022, in order to receive treatment under medical aid. However, when he returned to South Africa in 2024, he was no longer covered.
“I came back from America with cancer. Unfortunately, it has now progressed, resulting in my being off air for lengthy periods. Hot 102.7FM has been incredibly supportive and I thank them and my network of friends for the financial assistance and emotional support as we tackle this thing together,” he said in a statement.
Accetta set up a Backabuddy campaign to help Scott with his cancer treatment, which surpassed R125 000.
