Fire breaks out at Tembisa Hospital! The Accident and Emergency unit at the Tembisa Hospital in Ekurhuleni has been temporarily closed following a fire that broke out at the facility.

While the cause of Saturday’s fire remains unclear, the Gauteng Department of Health has confirmed that all patients in the unit were safely evacuated and no injuries were reported during the incident.

Head of department, Lesiba Malotana, has reassured the public that the rest of the hospital remained fully operational.

“All other areas of the hospital remain functional and operational. Those who have family members in the hospital must be rest assured that their family members are not in any danger and have been taken care of.”

The department said that contingency plans were in place to ensure emergency services continued to be available to the community during the unit’s closure.

The causes behind the fire are still being investigated.
