Position Overview
Located within the FAO Representation in India, the Project Assistant will operate under the guidance of the FAO Country Office in New Delhi. Reporting to the project managers and working closely with the FAO team, the successful candidate will undertake a range of responsibilities to ensure the smooth implementation of the project’s activities. The role emphasizes project management support, financial oversight, logistical coordination, and stakeholder engagement—all aimed at fostering sustainable aquaculture practices in Andhra Pradesh.
Key Responsibilities
The Project Assistant’s role is multifaceted, encompassing both administrative and technical tasks. These include:
- Managing financial aspects such as budget preparation, revisions, and financial reporting.
- Processing invoices, handling petty cash, and supporting procurement activities.
- Organizing project activities, meetings, workshops, and travel arrangements to facilitate seamless execution.
- Assisting in preparing progress, monitoring, and financial reports in line with project guidelines.
- Facilitating communication between FAO, government counterparts, stakeholders, and partners to ensure effective collaboration.
- Supporting assessment and compliance processes related to the Operational Partner Implementation Modality (OPIM).
- Maintaining documentation, records, and correspondence, and drafting minutes and presentations.
- Performing any additional duties as required to support project success.
Ideal Candidate Profile

- A Bachelor’s Degree in natural sciences such as biology or biodiversity.
- At least one year of relevant experience in project or program management, especially within international or development contexts.
- Proficiency in English.
- Indian nationality.
