,CIVICUS, the global alliance dedicated to strengthening citizen action and civil society, is offering a unique internship opportunity that promises invaluable experience in the realm of international event management and civil society engagement. The role of the International Civil Society Week (ICSW) Intern is a remote position based in Bangkok, Thailand, with the potential to make a real impact on one of the most anticipated civil society gatherings of 2025.

About the Role

The ICSW Intern position falls within the Membership & Networks cluster and is designed to support the planning and execution of the upcoming ICSW event scheduled for November 2025 in Bangkok. Over a six-month contract, the intern will work closely with the ICSW Coordinator, gaining exposure to the intricacies of event logistics, stakeholder engagement, communication strategies, and participant support.

This internship offers a compelling chance for individuals passionate about social justice, inclusion, and international cooperation to develop their skills in a dynamic, international setting—albeit remotely, with coordination centered around Bangkok.

Key Responsibilities and Activities

The intern will be involved in a variety of activities that span the entire event lifecycle:

  • Pre-Event Planning & Coordination: Assisting in developing detailed workplans, timelines, and checklists to ensure every aspect of the event is meticulously prepared. This includes researching and liaising with venues and vendors for services such as catering, audiovisual equipment, printing, and accommodations. The intern will also support scheduling meetings with internal teams and external stakeholders, as well as preparing briefing notes, concept papers, and logistics memos.
  • Participant Management: Managing registration systems and databases, tracking participant information including travel and visa details, and providing support to attendees. Responding to participant inquiries and troubleshooting issues are key aspects, alongside coordinating travel and accommodation logistics.
  • Event Communications: Drafting promotional materials like invitations, social media posts, and email announcements to generate buzz and inform stakeholders. The intern will also support content updates on event websites and platforms and assist in preparing event materials such as badges, programs, and signage.
  • Virtual and On-site Event Support: Offering technical assistance during virtual or hybrid sessions, supporting the coordination of event flow, and providing on-the-ground support such as managing logistics staff and volunteers. The intern will also help with speaker and session briefings to ensure smooth proceedings.
  • Post-Event Activities: Gathering feedback through surveys, assisting in compiling debrief reports, and documenting event outcomes, recordings, and materials for future reference.

Who Should Apply?

CIVICUS is seeking candidates who are fluent in English and Thai, preferably with a diploma or bachelor’s degree in a relevant field. The ideal applicant will possess strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and familiarity with digital tools like Teams, Zoom, SharePoint, and Google Workspace. An eye for detail, multitasking capabilities, and a commitment to social justice and inclusion are essential.

While previous experience in event organization is advantageous, enthusiasm, proactivity, and a willingness to learn are equally valued. Knowledge of French or Spanish languages would be a plus.

Application Details

The deadline to apply for this exciting internship is June 18, 2025, at 11:59 pm SAST. Selected interns will receive a stipend of USD 1200 per month, supporting their professional development while contributing to a meaningful global event.
