Hello 23! Sacha’s rise from schoolboy to Springbok [photos]

Springbok and Stormers star Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu is celebrating his 23rd birthday and a possible return to the pitch.

The popular player started playing rugby as a young boy and quickly climbed the ropes to the national team.

SACHA FEINBERG-MNGOMEZULU TURNS 23!

In an Instagram post on Saturday, 22 February, Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu revealed that he had turned 23 years old.

The Bok rookie spent his day the only way he knew how – playing rugby!

“Celebrating 23 the right way”, he captioned a clip of him on the pitch.

Sacha’s birthday comes amid his long absence from his club at the Stormers, and after missing out on several games during the 2024 Springboks test series. In recent months, the flyhalf has injured his knee, thumb, and shoulder.

However, Planet Rugby claims that the young star is “in the final stages of his rehabilitation.” The publication also quoted Sacha, who claimed he was ready to make a return on the pitch.

Of his role in the club, Sacha said: “These guys work so hard you’ve got to just trust the process. Not being anxious is the main thing, and just being positive and supportive of the team.”

Like others before him, Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu is one of many Springboks who emerged from the Bishops’ Diocesan College in Cape Town.

During this time, the passionate young player was influenced by the school’s “rugby-dominant culture.”

Sacha would go on to play for Western Cape’s Stormers and captain the Junior Boks before landing a spot in the squad after being recruited by Rassie Erasmus himself.

“Dream, dream, dream,” Sacha posted an Instagram post of him playing rugby in 2020

In another, he shared:  “Never give up”.

In 2016, Sacha – then just 14 years old – posed for a pic alongside now-captain Siya Kolisi. 

“Idols must become rivals,” he prophetically claims.
