Kaizer Chiefs are believed to be ready to revamp their squad in the upcoming January transfer window according to reports.

Chiefs have been linked with a few incomings but outgoings could also be the order of the month in January.

Chiefs released deadwood

Ahead of the arrival of coach Nasreddine Nabi Chiefs had already released players they deemed surplus to requirements. Keagan Dolly, Sifiso Hlanti, Siyethemba Sithebe, Njabulo Ngcobo and Jasond Gonzalez were those players. Two more players were loaned in Donay Jansen and Sabelo Radebe to free up more space in the first team. Some players were deemed to have survived the chop but only temporarily.

One of those players being utility defender Zitha Kwinika. Kwinika is an academy product of the club who was promoted to the first team nine years ago under Steve Komphela. He was then released and played for the likes of Bidvest Wits, Chippa United and Stellenbosch FC. After impressing at the Cape Winelands side, Chiefs bought him back in a double deal with Ashley du Preez. His start to a second stint at Amakhosi was promising, as he was crucial in the derby double against Orlando Pirates. Both he and Edmilson Dove keeping clean sheets.

Kwinika next?

But things would go downhill from there for Kwinika and according to The Citizen, he will be released by Chiefs!

“Zitha (Kwinika) is a good professional but this season, it hasn’t worked out for him. He did well in the past two seasons at Chiefs and was an important member of the team but coach Nabi hasn’t used him. Zitha is a good professional but this season, it hasn’t worked out for him. Having failed to make a single appearance this season, it seems the writing is on the wall for Kwinika. Chiefs fans does he deserve another chance? Or is it time for him to go? Feel free to leave your thoughts and feelings in the comments below.
