🔐 Job Description – What You’ll Be Doing

We are looking for VIP Security Officers to join our team at Kenilworth, Milnerton, and Durbanville Racecourses. As a VIP Security Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of staff, customers, and the premises. This includes monitoring surveillance equipment, patrolling, and preventing theft or security threats.

✅ Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this position, you must have:

  • Grade C Security Certification
  • Computer literacy (basic Microsoft Office skills)
  • 1-2 years of experience in a security role
  • PSIRA Registration (Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority)
  • A valid driver’s license (added advantage, but not mandatory)

🛠 Key Responsibilities

1⃣ Opening & Closing Duties

  • Arrive 15 minutes before the branch opens.
  • Assist the Branch Manager/Senior Team Leader during opening.
  • Conduct a perimeter patrol before the branch opens.
  • Check the area for suspicious movements before allowing entry.
  • Be alert and vigilant at all times.
  • Perform a floor walk after the branch opens to ensure everything is in order.
  • Support the closing procedure by minimizing entry risks and securing doors.

2⃣ Surveillance & Security Checks

  • Monitor inside and outside the branch, including entrances, exits, back areas, and parking zones.
  • Ensure two-way radios and panic buttons are fully charged and working.
  • Keep communication devices on you at all times for emergencies.

3⃣ Search & Screening Procedures

  • Scan guests entering the branch using a security scanner (no cross-gender scanning allowed).
  • Male officers search male guests; female officers search female guests.
  • Female handbags must be searched using a stick.
  • Male guests cannot bring bags inside the branch.
  • Ensure that doors remain closed at the search zone.

4⃣ Traffic & Crowd Control

  • Direct vehicle and foot traffic to ensure a smooth flow.
  • Control the number of vehicles entering and exiting the building.

5⃣ Additional Responsibilities

  • Attend security meetings when required.
  • Assist with stock receiving, alarm testing, and daily reports (submitted by 10:00 AM).
  • Ensure security equipment is well-maintained and stored safely.
