HUGE twist in Percy Tau’s deal to Qatar giants!
Percy Tau is all but set to to depart Al Ahly this month with both club and player agreeing a termination.
Last week it was reported that Al Ahly were going to terminate Tau’s contract six months earlier than expect.
Tau has seen his game time reduced considerably at Al Ahly this season. This stemming from contract issues. The Bafana Bafana international was promised a bumper contract by the club of the century not too long ago. This after a superb season for the club, but out of nowhere, the contract changed to a reduced one. The was also a feud with the coach Marcel Koller who was previously a big ally of the player. Now it is believed that the club want to get rid of him so they can free up a foreign spot.
Tau was believed to be heading to Qatar SC
Now although Tau has been linked with Chiefs and Pitso Mosimane’s Esteghlal, he could end up elsewhere. On Tuesday this publication reported that Qatari side Qatar SC were set to announce the winger in the coming days. Now in what may come as a major shock, it seems as if that is not the club the winger will be joining!
Although Tau is set to play his football in Qatar next season, it is expected to be at Al-Gharafa instead. This according to KickOff.com
“According to reports, the South African star (Tau) is set to move to Qatar, although it remains unclear where exactly he is headed, with Al-Gharafa thought to be his most likely destination.” Wrote the publication.
They also quote an Egyptian journalist Abu Al-Maati Zaki who says Al Ahly asked for money to Al-Gharafa!
Now likely to sign for Al-Gharafa
“Al Ahly requested $700,000 (R13 million) from Al-Gharafa to approve his (Tau’s) transfer to the Qatari club.” Said Zaki.
Whichever way you look at it, Tau looks destined to leave Al Ahly imminently. It is also clear that he won’t be signing for Qatar SC. Al-Gharafa look the most likely destination now!
