IOM Hiring: Project Field Assistants in Multiple Locations

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a dedicated Project Field Assistant to support its operations at the Temporary Transit Centre in Skopje, North Macedonia.

About the Role
As a Project Field Assistant, the individual will serve as the primary focal point at the Temporary Transit Centre, playing a vital role in coordinating and supporting assistance services for migrants and other vulnerable groups. The position involves close collaboration with the Migrant Protection and Assistance Coordinator to ensure smooth daily operations and service delivery.
The successful candidate will support planning and implementation of activities, monitor operational processes, and facilitate the mobility of medical staff and supplies. They will also prepare reports, coordinate logistics, and respond to inquiries, ensuring that the center functions efficiently and effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Centre Coordination: Act as the main point of contact at the Temporary Transit Centre, supporting daily assistance and service delivery.
- Operational Support: Assist in developing structured work plans for upcoming activities, monitor material receipt, storage, and distribution, and track the progress of field teams’ tasks.
- Activities Monitoring: Support seasonal activities such as winterization efforts, ensuring preparedness and summarizing efforts at the transit center.
- Logistics and Transport: Facilitate the movement of medical staff and supplies, oversee vehicle maintenance, and prepare related documentation.
- Reporting: Draft detailed status reports highlighting gaps in service delivery, escalate issues to supervisors, and prepare various documents including correspondence, reports, briefing notes, presentations, and statistical tables.
- Record-Keeping: Maintain organized filing systems (both paper and electronic) and ensure accurate record-keeping.
- Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned, supporting overall project goals and operational needs.
Qualifications and Skills
Educational Background:
Candidates should possess either a school diploma with at least four years of relevant experience or a bachelor’s degree in fields such as Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or related disciplines from an accredited university (listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database).
Experience:
Applicants should have experience liaising with government authorities, UN agencies, NGOs, and other institutions. Prior work with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, or victims of trafficking is highly desirable. Experience working in multicultural environments, particularly with international humanitarian organizations, will be considered an advantage.
Skills:
Candidates must have in-depth knowledge of migration-related issues addressed by IOM and demonstrate the ability to operate effectively under high-pressure conditions. Flexibility, adaptability, and a strong commitment to humanitarian principles and protection standards are essential.
Language Requirements:
Fluency in both English and Macedonian is mandatory. Proficiency in additional languages, such as French or Spanish, is a plus and may be evaluated during the selection process.

- Funding & Eligibility: The offer is contingent upon available funding and the candidate must hold a valid residence and work permit for North Macedonia.
