About IPID TVET Work Integrated Learning Programme 2025
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID), South Africa’s oversight body for police services, offers a 12-month TVET Work Integrated Learning Programme to empower unemployed TVET graduates. Accredited by the Safety and Security SETA (SASSETA), the programme provides practical experience in police oversight, focusing on Safety in Society, to enhance employability and contribute to public safety.
Programme Purpose
The programme aims to bridge the gap between theoretical education and practical skills for TVET graduates with NCV Level 4 in Safety in Society. It equips young South Africans aged 18–35 with workplace experience in police oversight, supporting IPID’s mission to ensure independent investigations of police misconduct and fostering skills development in the public safety sector.
Programme Structure
- Duration: 12 months.
- Qualification: NCV Level 4 in Safety in Society.
- Components: Practical workplace training in police oversight and administrative tasks.
- Outcome: Nationally recognized experience certificate (SASSETA-aligned).
- Stipend: R4,000 per month to cover expenses.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in administrative tasks within Corporate Services or OHS Unit (depending on placement).
- Support IPID’s oversight activities, including data collection and reporting.
- Participate in training and mentorship sessions to develop Safety in Society skills.
- Adhere to IPID’s operational and safety protocols.
- Complete assessments to demonstrate workplace competency.

Eligibility Criteria
- South African citizen with a valid ID.
- Aged 18–35 at the start of the placement.
- NCV Level 4 in Safety in Society from a TVET college.
- Unemployed and not permanently employed.
- No prior participation in a learnership or internship programme.
- Clear criminal record, verified via background checks.
Preferences
- Candidates from Employment Equity groups (e.g., Black, Coloured, Indian, women, persons with disabilities).
- Residents of the province where the placement is offered.
- Commitment to completing the full 12-month programme.
Skills and Attributes
- Good verbal and written communication skills.

- Basic computer literacy (advantageous).
