However, prior to the start of the match, there is an equally important game taking place back in Orchard Park in New York.
The Buffalo Bills (the team her dad owns) will play against the Denver Broncos in the NFL playoffs.
Similar to a grand slam
Pegula is optimistic that the Buffalo Bills can get the job done after finishing as the second-seed in the AFC Conference after a 13-4 season.
However, she was not willing to commit to watching the game live.
“I think it’s on, what, like 05:00 here time? Probably won’t be up that early. Maybe catch, like, the second half of it.”
Pegula related the match to being similar to a Grand Slam tournament.
“Yes, obviously I think they have a great chance to win this game. I don’t know, just makes me nervous. It’s kind of like a slam. You never really know what’s going to happen.”
“Playoffs start, you have the favourites, but you never know what’s going to happen. I hope they win. I hope they can come out very healthy.”
Injuries
Like her season, Jessica Pegula was hopeful that the Buffalo Bills would not pick up any injuries.
“If they do win, no major injuries. That would be great. I think staying healthy for those NFL teams is massive in the playoffs.”
“Hopefully they get a good win and no injuries.”
It’s going to be a big day for Jessica Pegula on two fronts in the next 24 hours.
Her beloved Buffalo Bills versus the Denver Broncos, and her first-round match against Maya Joint.
