The Opportunity
In response to a rapidly changing fundraising landscape, Plan International is embarking on an ambitious journey to future-proof our global private giving portfolio. This transformational effort seeks to stabilize and diversify our core private fundraising programs while reimagining our approach to secure sustainable income streams that drive impactful change.
We are excited to announce the opening of a pivotal role: Fundraising Development Lead. This position will play a critical part in leading an international network of stakeholders across the organization to drive strategic projects and initiatives aimed at maintaining and attracting new donor and supporter segments. Your creativity and innovative thinking will help us design relevant offerings and transformative donor journeys that align with the values and goals of Plan International.
Key Responsibilities
As the Fundraising Development Lead, you will engage in a variety of strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing our fundraising capabilities. Your responsibilities will include:
- Strategizing Core Fundraising Approaches: You will lead the efforts to innovate Plan’s current core fundraising program, exploring new concepts that not only diversify but also strengthen our income portfolio. This may involve prototyping new fundraising concepts and identifying proven methods that can be scaled effectively.
- Enhancing Marketing and Communications: A key objective of this role will be to improve our marketing and external communications strategies. By aligning our messaging with research insights and showcasing the impact of our work, you will play an essential role in driving donor acquisition and retention. Strengthening our digital marketing capabilities will also be a focus, ensuring that we leverage technology to connect authentically with our supporters.
- Project Leadership and Stakeholder Management: You will serve as a member of the NextGen Programme and be part of the Global Fundraising Support Team. Your ability to work collaboratively with sponsorship and fundraising teams across various regions and countries will be crucial. Effectively leading project plans, you will ensure that key milestones are met, tasks are delivered on time, and all level stakeholders are engaged.
- Building and Facilitating Working Groups: As a co-facilitator of working groups with diverse staff from Plan’s global operations, you will indirectly manage teams made up of both internal and external members. Your goal will be to foster meaningful engagement among team members, encouraging them to take ownership and initiative in driving these critical fundraising efforts.
- Team Development and Dynamics: You will strive to build a cohesive team environment, developing and mentoring your colleagues as they contribute to the fundraising development process. Your leadership will be important in establishing momentum and encouraging collaboration across various functions, ensuring that everyone feels invested in our mission.
- Problem-Solving and Anticipating Challenges: One of your key roles will be to anticipate potential challenges in the fundraising development process and proactively identify solutions. Your ground-level insight and strategic thinking will be essential in creating a dynamic and responsive program that meets the evolving needs of our supporters and beneficiaries.
Qualifications and Skills Required
To excel in this position and drive meaningful results, the ideal candidate will possess a combination of education and experience, including:
- Educational Background: A degree in fundraising, marketing, communications, international development, or a related field is preferred.
- Professional Experience: A minimum of five years of progressive experience in fundraising development, marketing, or a related field is required. Demonstrated success in managing fundraising campaigns and acquiring new donors will be a key asset.
- Project and Team Management Skills: You should have strong project management experience, with the ability to lead diverse teams, manage multiple priorities, and coordinate with a variety of stakeholders across different geographies.
- Communication Acumen: Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. Your ability to articulate goals, successes, and needs clearly will be crucial in securing and maintaining support from donors and stakeholders.
- Digital Marketing Proficiency: Familiarity with digital marketing tools and techniques to enhance fundraising initiatives, including social media and other online strategies capable of reaching our target audience effectively.
- Leadership Qualities: You should exhibit strong leadership and interpersonal skills, enabling you to mentor and inspire team members effectively while fostering a collaborative atmosphere.
Role Logistics
- Location: This role is flexible and can be based in any country where Plan International has offices and where you have the right to work.
- Type of Role: This is a two-year fixed-term contract.
- Reports to: Head of Global Fundraising Support.
