Kaizer Chiefs are falling well short with their evaluation of a key marquee midfield target. Will they return with a better offer?

Azam tells Kaizer Chiefs to come up with more cash

Chiefs have reportedly made an initial offer of R6 million for talented Tanzanian attacking midfielder Feisal Salum. That proposal falls well short of their evaluation of the player.

“Chiefs are said to have offered Azam a significant offer for the 26-year-old, but the offer falls short of the R40 million evaluation by the club for the Tanzanian international,” the Citizen reported.

“Unless Chiefs offer what Azam wants, I don’t see the deal happening anytime soon. What’s more, Feisal wants to stay in Tanzania and with Simba also interested, it seems he’s likely to join them,” a source told the same publication.

Injury report as Betway Prem action looms

Ashley du Preez, Edson Castillo and Gaston Sirino will all miss Chiefs’ match against Sekhukhune on Saturday 19 January. Meanwhile, star 22-year-old defender Rushwin Dortley is a major doubt.

Ashley this week won’t be with us, and I can’t say when he will be fit as we are still waiting for the report from the medical team about his state,” Chiefs assistant coach Youssef told FARPost.

“We have a player that has a fracture, CastilloSirino is also out. Dortley, you know, when he came back from the national team, Bafana Bafana, he returned with an injury. So we are trying to manage and protest him. For this game [Sekhukhune], we don’t know yet if he will be with us or not. We are still waiting for the medical report.”

Dithejane has no regrets

Puso Dithejane and Unathi Mdaka were released owing to misconduct over ball-boy duties in October 2023. Now 20, Dithejane has thrived in the number 10 role for TS Galaxy but can also operate in several roles on their right flank. He was integral to their sixth-place finish last term and this season he’s made 10 league appearances, notching up a goal and an assist.
