Kaizer Chiefs eye free transfer after contract snub – Latest
Kaizer Chiefs eye a free transfer after his contract snub. Here is the latest on the situation.
Chiefs could be on the verge of securing Tanzanian midfielder Feisal Salum on a free transfer after he reportedly rejected a contract extension from Azam FC. With his current deal set to expire in June, the Soweto giants have a golden opportunity to bring the talented playmaker to Naturena.
Salum wants Chiefs move: Source reveals
A source close to both clubs and the player confirmed that Salum has no intention of extending his stay at Azam, further fueling speculation about his move to Amakhosi.
“If nothing happens regarding his contract between now and June, then Chiefs could sign him as a free agent. He is believed to have rejected the offer to extend his contract at Azam, and we know he is interested in joining coach Nabi. So, if Chiefs still want him, they could sign him for free this time around,” the source revealed.
Salum, who previously played under Chiefs’ head coach Nasreddine Nabi and assistant Cedric Kaze at Yanga SC, reportedly remains eager to reunite with his former mentors at Naturena.
Chiefs still in the market for attacking options
The same source disclosed that Nabi is actively looking to bolster his squad with at least two or three attacking players, including a striker, ahead of the new season.
“There is still a possibility of Feisal (Salum) for next season, but it will depend on the other players the club is considering for those positions. A lot can happen between now and the end of the season, but if he doesn’t renew his contract and Chiefs want to sign him, then he will obviously join as a free agent,” the source added.
At 27, Salum brings experience and creativity to the midfield. His potential arrival would add depth and attacking prowess to an Amakhosi squad eager to compete at the highest level next season.
Will Amakhosi seal the deal?
With Salum available for free, Kaizer Chiefs have a clear path to secure his services. However, the final decision hinges on their priorities in the transfer market. Will Amakhosi make their move, or will another club swoop in before June? Only time will tell.
