Kaizer Chiefs gossip: Salum closer, Sirino replaced, ‘cows’
Kaizer Chiefs are closing in on an exciting new midfielder but Gaston Sirino must be replaced against Sundowns.
Salum is back on the Kaizer Chiefs radar
According to SoccerLaduma, Chiefs have received encouragement in their chase of Tanzanian midfielder Feisal Salum. The 27-year-old is unlikely to stay at his current club Azam beyond the end of this season. An attacking midfielder with an eye for goal, Salum knows Nasreddine Nabi and Cedric Kaze well after working together at Yanga SC. The schemer has 41 caps for his country.
Chiefs to ditch Sam
According to Soccer-Laduma, Magesi are confident they can sign Bongani Sam from Kaizer Chiefs at the end of the campaign.
“Magesi FC are sure they will be in the PSL next season and that’s when they will renegotiate for Bongani Sam to be signed. That’s their plan at the moment. Though they could not sign him in January they are still holding hopes that they could sign him in the next transfer window. So, it’s not like that deal is completely out of the question. They are still set to sign him though it will depend on whether they are still in the PSL or not. That will be the main deciding factor as things stand now,” said their source.
Chiefs fans aren’t happy with some of the club’s business
At his peak value, transfermarkt estimates that Mduduzi Mdantsane was at his most desirable in the market in February 2023 when they gauged him to be worth €1.2m (R22.8 million). Now, exactly two years later, they figure he’s worth half that (R11.4 million). Injuries have ravaged his time at Naturena, including a terribly unfortunate one sustained in a car accident, but when fit his form hasn’t been to the standard expected by Chiefs. He cost something in the region of R13 million. Whether they can recoup any of that money after his loan spell with Richards Bay is unclear. A clearly talented player, he’s flattered to deceive. Are Chiefs fans right? Do players get worse when they become Glamour Boys?

Sundowns vs Chiefs: Team news
Four players are currently on the treatment table which you can see listed below. They must also battle the Brazilians without former Sundowns star Gaston Sirino, who’s suspended after a dismissal against SuperSport United. Chiefs lost 4-1 at Gavin Hunt’s Matsatsantsa side last time out. Mduduzi Shabalala should deputise for the Uruguayan.
