Kaizer Chiefs injury update: FIVE still on the treatment table
Kaizer Chiefs will hope for their injury worries to lighten as they start preparing for a massive battle with Mamelodi Sundowns.
Chiefs still have a quintet of players out
Five players are currently on the treatment table which you can see listed below. Next up for Amakhosi is a daunting trip to Sundowns on 01 March. They must battle the Brazilians without former Sundowns star Gaston Sirino, who’s suspended after a dismissal against Matsatsantsa.
- Sibongiseni Mthethwa
- Wandile Duba
- Ashley Du Preez
- Edmilson Dove
- Dillan Solomons
Sundowns vs Kaizer Chiefs H2H is rather one-sided
You have to go back to April 2021 for Chiefs’ last win over the South African champions in any competition. Ironically, Uruguayan Gaston Sirino was a goal-scorer for Downs on that afternoon. 33-year-old Sirino scooped 11 trophies with Sundowns in his years at the club but he’s suspended for this clash.
Downs are unbeaten in each of the last NINE H2Hs across all competitions.
Why Kaizer Chiefs sold Ditlhokwe
According to reports, Kaizer Chiefs received an offer for Botswana defender Thatayaone Ditlhokwe that was too good to refuse. It was also in the best interests of the player, who needs regular game time ahead of Afcon 2025 in Morocco.
“The feeling is that he was not happy with not being a regular. He also felt that he didn’t have the trust of the new technical team. He was not even played in his preferred position sometimes, which is part of the reason he wasn’t happy,” an insider told Citizen.
Will Chiefs have any chance against Sundowns in their next match?
