Kaizer Chiefs were shunted down to eighth after the Maroons prevailed past Magesi on Tuesday.

Nasreddine Nabi’s season has ebbed and flowed, starting with back-to-back wins – but then the wheels came off.

AmaKhosi found themselves in the bottom half of the table for weeks, eventually clawing themselves back into top-four contention after crucial wins over Stellenbosch and Sekhukhune United.

However, several shocking defeats have incurred throughout the season, most recently against SuperSport United, losing 4-1 at home.

Kaizer Chiefs face Mamelodi Sundowns next (March 1).

Kick-off: 15:30

The Glamour Boys want Le Roux

According to reports, the Soweto giants are eyeing Bafana’s Luke Le Roux.

Following stints at Matsatsantsa and Stellenbosch, the 24-year-old has mingled between the Netherlands and Sweden, but it’s the latter where he currently resides, playing for IFK Värnamo.

Kaizer Chiefs could shoot their shot in the offseason.

Zwane off-limits

Themba Zwane, who suffered an Achilles injury on international duty last October, is expected to sign a one-year contract extension – with the option for an additional year – after months of speculation about whether the Brazilians were willing to offer the 35-year-old a renewal.

Kaizer Chiefs have made signing out-of-contract Sundowns players a habit; but that won’t be happening with Zwane, the clubs longest serving player.

“The new deal is as good as done and the coach has played an important part in that,” a Siya source confirmed.

“As a way of honouring him, the club has given him a one-year contract offer plus a one-year option as they want him to be part of the FIFA Club World Cup in June and that’s when his contract was supposed to expire,” they added.

“They believe it’s a good move as he has dedicated his life to the club for a long time and the new deal is more of a reward for his dedication and commitment to the club.”
