Kaizer Chiefs Rushwin Dortley doubtful for Sekhukhune clash!
Kaizer Chiefs have it all to play for when they face Sekhukhune United on Sunday.
It was a dreadful last PSL outing for Nasreddine Nabi’s side, losing 1-0 to Golden Arrows four days after dispatching Steve Barker’s Stellenbosch FC.
Making life trickier for the Soweto giants is the number of stars in the medical room, including Ashley Du Preez, Gaston Sirino, Edson Castillo and Rushwin Dortley – the latter could make selection but is doubtful after picking up an injury following a Bafana Bafana training camp.
“Dortley, you know, when he came back from the national team, Bafana Bafana, he returned with an injury,” confirmed assistant coach Khalil Ben Youssef.
“So, we are trying to manage and protest him. For this game [Sekhukhune], we don’t know yet if he will be with us or not. We are still waiting for the medical report.”
Other’s out for months
Kaizer Chiefs have felt the loss of midfielder Edson Castillo, who isn’t due back until for a few months.
“We have a player that has a fracture, Castillo. Sirino is also out. Ashley this week won’t be with us, and I can’t say when he will be fit as we are still waiting for the report from the medical team about his state.”
Youssef carried on by reflecting on Kaizer Chiefs’ poor season, saying, “We don’t have time. That’s football: every day, you win or you lose, you have to prepare for the next game,
“If we win this game or we lose, we have to prepare now, and finish this game. We did what we had to do.
“For sure, we are not happy about the situation, but we are ready to prepare now. We’ll take two days’ rest, then we’ll come back to continue working.
“We believe [in] what we do, we know what we have to do. All the players believe in the capacity, and they know what they have to do.
“We have to continue to work. There’s no solution about working: to get results, you have to work. We will continue working.”
