Kaizer Chiefs are looking to improve their midfield and were rumoured to be looking abroad for solutions too.

Chiefs are currently struggling to kick on this season with the team now languishing in sixth position on the log.

Chiefs were believed to be interested in le Roux

There was a lot of optimism after the appointment of Nasreddine Nabi at the start of the season. This because the Tunisian mentor came with a big reputation and there was hope he would improve the side. Chiefs also invested in seven signings during the previous window but none have stood out consistently.

This has led to calls from Nabi saying he needs more players of the quality required to play for Chiefs. According to widespread reports the club are set to attack the January transfer window in that regard. This publication reported that one of the players on their radar is Bafana Bafana star Luke le Roux. After a difficult spell in the Netherlands with FC Volendam, that was blighted by injury and relegation, he returned to Sweden.

Le Roux was snapped up by IFK Varnamo. His impressive form for his new club then saw him back in favour with Hugo Broos who recalled him to the Bafana. That also saw the likes of Chiefs hoping to try their luck in bringing the SuperSport United product home.

Set to sign for Hammarby instead?

But now according to iDiski Times Le Roux won’t be moving to Chiefs but to Swedish giants Hammarby IF instead!

“Yes, I can confirm that Hammarby have made an approach to Varnamo about Luke Le Roux. This move would allow Luke to play at the highest possible level leading up to the 2026 World Cup, which he hopes to be a part of. The player has been an outstanding professional during his time at Varnamo. The club got him on a really good deal in the summer and will make a good profit. They have more than enough time to find a replacement, so we fully expect them to not stand in the way.” Said his agent Matthew Moore to the same publication.

Chiefs fans, would you have liked to have le Roux? Or was he always an unrealistic target? Feel free to leave your thoughts and comments below.
