Today’s Kaizer Chiefs news wrap involves the latest on Feisal Salum and calls for Mama Joy to join the club! There’s also a battle with Sundowns on the weekend.

Readers call for Mama Joy to become a Chiefs Super Fan

Nobody has ever questioned the loyalty of Kaizer Chiefs fans. Just look at the continuous disappointments they have to face and they just keep getting back up off the ground. Could Mama Joy become the latest Chiefs ‘Super Fan’ to keep morale in the stadium up? Although the suggestions were obviously tongue-in-cheek, they’re not the most ridiculous thing we’ve read this week.

When will Chiefs get rid of Kwinika’s wages?

Rushwin Dortley and Inacio Miguel arrived at the start of the campaign and have become Nasreddine Nabi’s first-choice pairing in the centre of defence. At best, Zitha Kwinika is the fourth or fifth choice in that position. Yes, he’s versatile and can fill in at right-back, but it’s unlikely he’ll play any minutes. Earning a reported R370k a month, that’s an expensive benchwarmer. Reports back in July indicated new boss Nabi wasn’t satisfied with what he saw from the defender in Turkey and those reports have turned out to be true. Kwinika, astonishingly, is the only remaining player in the Chiefs squad who was with the club when they won the league in 2015.

Is Salum in Chiefs’ reach again?

According to SoccerLaduma, Chiefs have received encouragement in their chase of Tanzanian midfielder Feisal Salum. The 27-year-old is unlikely to stay at his current club Azam beyond the end of this season. An attacking midfielder with an eye for goal, Salum knows Nasreddine Nabi and Cedric Kaze well after working together at Yanga SC. The schemer has 41 caps for his country.
