The Zulu monarch, King Misizulu kaZwelithini, is set to marry his third wife, Queen Nomzamo Myeni, in a ceremony that has already captured the public’s attention.

The announcement was made on Tuesday by Prince Simphiwe Zulu, who shared the news on behalf of the King.

MORE ABOUT THE TRADITIONAL WEDDING

The wedding will take place at the Shembe church on January 26. Prior to the wedding, uMkhehlo, a family gift exchange ceremony, will take place on January 24.

“Last year, the King began building a relationship with the Myenis family by paying lobola and holding an ingqibamasondo ceremony.

“On the 24th, there will be an uMkhehlo ceremony at the Myenis’ home, where the Queen comes from.”

“The following day, January 25 (Saturday), there will be a pause, as the King and the Queen have chosen the Nazareth (Shembe) faith.

“The traditional marriage (Umgcagco) will take place on Sunday, January 26, where everyone, including Amakhosi and members of the royal family, is invited to witness the ceremony,” he announced.

KING MISUZULU’S SHOCKING DIVORCE SAGA

According to African Times, King Misuzulu has filed for divorce from one of his wives. The filing was made at the Pietermaritzburg High Court in KwaZulu-Natal.

Court documents obtained by the publication indicated that the monarch initiated the proceedings due to an irreparable breakdown in his marriage.

As part of the divorce settlement, King Misuzulu has proposed paying his wife monthly maintenance of R20,000 for one year following the finalisation of the divorce.

The documents further indicate that the King and his estranged wife have lived apart for over a year.
