KZN POLICE SWIFTLY ARREST SUSPECTS OVER INANDA MURDERS

South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson in KwaZulu-Natal Colonel Robert Netshiunda said the suspects are believed to be members of a certain forum in the community and more arrests cannot be ruled out.

“The suspects, aged between 22 and 70 years old, will appear in the Ntuzuma Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 20 January,” Netshiunda said.

Earlier on Friday, KZN police responded to reports of multiple murders. Upon arrival at the crime scenes, three bodies were found at a sports ground near a school, whereas the other two bodies were discovered at another field, about a kilometre away from the first crime scene.

“Information at police’s disposal at this stage suggests that the victims, aged between 19 and 26 years old, were allegedly kidnapped from their homes in Bambayi around midnight, and their bodies were only discovered just after 6:30 in the morning with multiple injuries. One victim had his one arm chopped off,” Netshiunda said.

THE DECEASED WERE ALLEGEDLY TERRORISING THE COMMUNITY

According to private security company Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), their officers interviewed several individuals at the scene who alleged that the five men were known robbers and drug users who were terrorising the community.

“They were also allegedly responsible for raping multiple female learners. Frustrated residents allegedly tracked the males down to the grounds last night (Thursday) and executed them,” RUSA said.
