Limpopo warns of heavy traffic over Easter weekend! The Limpopo Department of Transport has issued a warning to motorists about heavy traffic volumes expected on roads leading into the province, particularly around places of worship. This comes as Easter weekend travel peaks, with many heading toward Polokwane and Boyne.

Law enforcement officers have been strategically deployed to monitor traffic flow and enforce road laws. Their presence aims to reduce congestion and ensure the safety of all road users during one of the province’s busiest travel periods.

Motorists Urged to Obey Traffic Laws

Transport Department spokesperson Tidimalo Chuene reminded drivers that breaking the law will have serious consequences. “Yesterday, a 25-year-old reckless driver of a white Volkswagen hatchback was arrested for speeding at 214 km/h in a 120 km/h zone on the N1 near Mokopane,” she said.

The driver is expected to appear soon in the Mokopane Magistrate’s Court.

No Fatalities Reported So Far

Chuene confirmed that, as of Thursday, there have been no reported fatalities related to Easter traffic, and authorities are working to maintain that record throughout the long weekend.
