Limpopo’s most wanted criminals killed in shoot out with police! Two of Limpopo’s most wanted criminals were shot and killed in a dramatic shoot-out with police after they were tracked down hiding in the bushes near the R555 regional road at Ga-Mampuru.
The pair, notorious for terrorizing communities in the Capricorn and Sekhukhune districts, met their violent end on Tuesday when law enforcement officers, acting on intelligence, moved in to apprehend them.

According to Provincial Police Spokesperson, Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba, officers were acting on reliable intelligence about the whereabouts of the two highly dangerous suspects.

Fatal Shoot-Out
During the exchange of gunfire, one of the suspects was fatally shot on the spot.
“One of the suspects was found in possession of a pistol with live ammunition. He is yet to be identified but is estimated to be between 30 and 35 years old,” said Mashaba.
Meanwhile, the second suspect attempted to escape but was pursued by police. When he fired at the officers, they returned fire, killing him instantly.
“The suspect was also found in possession of an R5 rifle with live ammunition, a 9mm pistol, and 12 cellphones, which are believed to be stolen,” Mashaba added.
A Fugitive on the Run
Upon further investigation, police discovered that one of the suspects was a fugitive who had escaped from the Lebowakgomo Magistrate’s Court on March 17, 2023.
At the time of his escape, he was facing multiple serious criminal charges, including:
- Rape
- Housebreaking
- House robbery
Linked to Multiple Heinous Crimes
Authorities confirmed that the duo was involved in a string of violent crimes, including the murder of a Limpopo Highway Patrol Sergeant.
During the incident, the suspects stole three rifles from the slain officer.
Together, they were linked to over ten serious crimes across various areas, including:
- Lebowakgomo
- Magatle
- Sekhukhune
- Mankweng
These crimes included:
- Murder
- Rape
- House robbery
- Kidnapping
Police Send a Warning to Criminals
Following the successful operation, Brigadier Mashaba commended the officers for their swift action and issued a stern warning to criminals.
“This operation demonstrates our unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety of our communities. Criminals who continue to terrorize residents must know that we will not hesitate to take decisive action.”
Mashaba also reassured law-abiding citizens that police will continue hunting down dangerous criminals to restore peace and safety in the province.
