Midfielder stops training with Orlando Pirates, leaves the club!
Orlando Pirates did not make any signings in the previous window, but had a player training with them.
Pirates decided that their squad was good enough to go the distance, despite playing in three competitions.
Buccaneers opted against making signing is January
Pirates passed their CAF Champions League test with flying colours. This after topping a group that featured defending champions Al Ahly. They will now resume their continental campaign in April. Until then, they will continue their defence of the Nedbank Cup title. Their next opponents being SuperSport United, who they have drawn in the quarterfinals. In the league, they’re set to take on Golden Arrows and Cape Town City this week.
This run of games depicting of much football their current squad will be stretched for. They have also not been without some injuries of late. The likes of Thalente Mbatha and Thabiso Sesane to mention two. Had they needed to reinforce after the Window, they would be able to do so in the free agents market. One player that fits that profile that has been training with them for months is Siphelele Luthuli. Despite murmurs that he was close to joining Pirates, iDiski Times reports they have let him go.
Luthuli not signed
“Former Chippa United midfielder Siphelele Luthuli, who is currently a free agent, has stopped training with Orlando Pirates. Luthuli, 30, has left Pirates after his training stint and is now on the lookout for a new club. The experienced former Bloemfontein Celtic midfielder was spotted at Pirates in December and continued with Jose Riveiro’s squad into 2025. However, it’s been confirmed to iDiski Times that he’s left without being offered a deal after featuring in first-team training and several friendlies for over a month.”
