Miss South Africa 2025: A more inclusive crown awaits as applications open
The journey to the Miss South Africa 2025 crown has officially begun, with applications now open and closing next week Friday, 11 April at 18:00. With a series of bold changes and a renewed focus on inclusivity and empowerment, this year’s pageant is set to be one of the most exciting and progressive in the competition’s history.
In a major shift from previous years, the age limit has been extended, now allowing women aged 20 to 32 (as of 30 August 2025) to enter the prestigious competition. Previously, contestants had to be under 30 during their reigning year, a restriction that excluded many capable and dynamic women from participating. This updated age policy reflects the organization’s growing commitment to inclusivity, opening the doors wider for women from a broader range of life experiences.
In line with these progressive steps, the pageant will once again welcome trans women, married women, and mothers—a policy that has helped redefine traditional beauty standards and embrace the richness of South African womanhood. Importantly, height and weight are no longer criteria for eligibility, further reinforcing the message that beauty comes in all shapes, sizes, and stories.
Miss South Africa 2025
Women who aspire to represent South Africa on both a national and international stage can begin their application by visiting the official Miss SA website (www.misssa.co.za) or downloading the Miss South Africa app. Applicants must fill out an online form and submit a compulsory entry video, which must also be posted to their personal social media platforms.
To help guide hopefuls through the process, the Miss SA organisation will release a step-by-step “How to Enter” video across its digital platforms. This ensures that all candidates, regardless of background or technical knowledge, have an equal opportunity to present their best selves.
A Word from the Reigning Queen
Mia le Roux, the reigning Miss South Africa, shared heartfelt advice for those considering applying. She emphasised that the experience goes far beyond glitz and glamour—it’s a deeply transformative journey of self-discovery and growth.
“This journey will really challenge you to explore who you are and what you stand for. And if you embrace the journey fully, you will come out knowing yourself so much better, whether you take the crown or not,” she said.
Mia encouraged contestants to be authentic, highlighting that what truly sets someone apart is their willingness to show up as themselves.
“Your voice can be a vehicle for change… You are allowed to be human, and it’s okay if you don’t always have the answers to everything, as long as you show that you are completely at peace with who you are and that you are always willing to learn.”
Her words underscore a significant shift in what Miss South Africa represents today—a platform not just for outer beauty, but for leadership, authenticity, and social impact.
The Return of Crown Chasers
For fans, the road to the crown won’t just be experienced online—it will also unfold on screen. The hit reality series, Crown Chasers, is returning for its fourth season, offering viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the challenges, triumphs, and personal growth of the contestants.
This year’s edition promises added excitement with the first-ever reunion episode airing after the finale. It will give fans a chance to catch up with their favourite contestants and reflect on the unforgettable moments of the season.
As the countdown to Miss South Africa 2025 begins, the pageant continues to evolve into a platform that represents modern womanhood in all its diversity. Whether you’re a passionate activist, a dedicated mother, a young professional, or someone seeking a life-changing experience, this could be your moment.
The crown is calling—and it’s more inclusive than ever.
