Mpumalanga safety authorities are urging motorists to obey road rules as traffic volumes are expected to increase with the conclusion of the Easter weekend.
The call comes amid growing concern after at least 17 people died on the province’s roads since the beginning of the long weekend.

On Friday night, three people were killed in a collision between a multi-purpose vehicle and a truck on the R35 between Bethal and Middelburg.
Three others sustained injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Mpumalanga safety, security, and liaison MEC Jackie Macie said that traffic officials would remain out in full force to enforce the law and help prevent further tragedies.
Department spokesperson Moeti Mmusi said: “He says it was worrying that there has been about 17 fatalities on various roads in the province since the Easter long weekend, especially in Middelburg.”
