Internship Opportunity: Supply Chain Management
Two Year Programme
Monthly Stipend: R9, 306.18
The Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) is a Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) that facilitates skills development under the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET), and supports mine health and safety under the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE) for the mining and minerals sector under Skills Development Act (SDA) 97 of 1998 and Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) 29 of 1996, respectively.
The MQA would like to invite qualifying individuals to apply for an internship opportunity within its Supply Chain Unit. Unemployed individuals who have never participated in an internship programme are invited to apply. This opportunity is only available for South African Citizens.
The successful intern will be appointed for a period of twenty-four (24) months.
Reporting to the Supply Chain Management Manager; the successful candidate will be exposed to the following:
The candidate will be responsible for the following functions
- Contract management
- Ensuring compliance with the PFMA, PPPFA, BBBEE, Corporate Governance and SCM
- Evaluating tenders
- Assist with processing purchase orders and ensuring that all steps are followed for a smooth order-to-delivery cycle.
- Keep track of contracts, invoices, purchase orders, and other relevant documents.
- Provide support in resolving any supply chain-related issues that affect External or in internal stakeholders
- support document management by ensuring all paperwork is up to date and stored in accordance with ISO Standards.
- General administrative support
Minimum Requirements
- A grade 12 or matric certificate
- National Diploma or equivalent at a NQF 6 level in the Supply Chain Management or Public Management/ Public Administration or Logistic/Purchasing Management or equivalent.
- A Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent NQF Level 7 qualification in above-mentioned fields will be an added advantage.
Competencies: Knowledge, Skills, Attributes
The candidate must possess the following:
- Good communication and interpersonal skills;
- An understanding of legislation and developments pertaining to education and training;
- Ability to work under pressure;
- A proactive attitude
- Ability to pay attention to detail
- Proficiency in MS Office Packages

Paterson Grade: B5
Remuneration: R 288, 116.00 p.a (plus a possible 20% performance bonus)

The MQA requires the services of a competent individual to fill the above-mentioned position.
ROLE PURPOSE:
To assist with the implementation of the Learning Programmes Projects within the Mining Sector as delegated by the Manager: Learning Programmes.
This position reports to the Manager: Learning Programmes and will be based at the MQA Head Office in Parktown, Johannesburg.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
Administration of Learning Programmes Projects: • Assist with the registration of learner agreements. Assist with the processing of grants timeously and submit to Finance for payment. •Determine the completion status of all bursars for reporting purposes. Assist with the monitoring of learner uptakes and adherence to conditions of allocations. Assist in controlling and maintaining an effective document filing and retrieval system. Assist Contracts Management for companies with grant allocations in all the initiatives.
Document Management and Reporting: Assist in the management of all documents pertaining to learner agreements and grant payments. •Maintenance of LP projects records and SharePoint and updating learning programmes database on an ongoing basis. • Ensure completeness of records and availability of supporting documents to ensure document and data integrity for reporting purposes.
Develop and maintain stakeholder / customer relationships: Assist in responding to all client visits and/or other queries relating to the LP Project and other learning programmes. •Assist with the proactive identification of customer needs and opportunities.
Financial Management: • Assist the Learning Programmes Manager with the consolidation of financial commitments towards effective implementation of the learning programme projects.
Governance: Assist with the Implementation of internal controls and maintain sound administrative and governance services.
General Unit Administration: Assist with convening Unit meetings, taking minutes in meeting; distribution and archiving of minutes. Administration duties relating to travel and accommodation for Officers, Managers and Senior Manager.
KEY REQUIREMENTS: QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
Qualifications:
- A National Senior Certificate (NSC) or National Certificate: Vocational (NCV) (NQF 4).
- National Diploma in Business Administration, Office Administration, Human Resources Development or Human Resources at NQF Level 6 or equivalent.
- A Bachelor`s Degree (NQF 7) in the above- mentioned fields or equivalent will be an added advantage
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 Years Administration Experience.
- 1 year’ s work experience within a training/learning environment preferred.
- Experience in working on Management Information System within a training/ learning environment.
- Experience of the SETA environment will be an advantage.
- Experience in bursary administration will be an advantage.
Competencies, Skills and Attributes
Knowledge: Knowledge of document management systems • Knowledge of administration and management processes. Knowledge of database administration is essential. Knowledge of the mining and mineral sector will be an added advantage. •An understanding of legislation in respect of education and training will be advantageous.
