What Does an Assistant Store Manager Do?

In this role, you’ll support the Store Manager in the daily operations of a Mr Price Money Cellular Store. Your mission? To make sure the store meets and exceeds targets, while delivering top-notch customer service.

Your Key Responsibilities

1. Stock Management

  • Accurately unpack and organize stock to replenish the sales floor.
  • Keep stock levels under control using methods like stock counts, stock takes, and loss prevention plans.
  • Maintain a tidy stockroom that meets housekeeping standards.
  • Handle write-offs, breakages, recalls, and out-of-box failures (OBFs).

2.Sales Growth & Profitability

  • Analyze sales and profitability reports to develop strategies for boosting sales.
  • Track product performance and give feedback to improve stock and sales.
  • Seize new opportunities to grow brand awareness, such as in-store marketing and competitor analysis.
  • Drive sales in credit, insurance, and mobile products to meet budget targets.

3. Risk Management

  • Help the Store Manager with compliance checks, such as admin and visual audits, POS reports, and security measures.
  • Ensure the store follows all company policies and procedures.

4.Customer Experience Management

  • Implement strategies to ensure an exceptional customer experience, from pricing promotions to housekeeping standards.
  • Make the store a welcoming, vibrant space for shoppers.

5. Leadership & Development

  • Motivate and lead the store team to achieve key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Identify and implement training programs to foster talent and succession planning.
  • Oversee recruitment and manage team performance based on company guidelines.

What You’ll Need to Qualify

To be considered for this exciting role, make sure you meet these requirements:

  • Education: NQF Level 4 (Grade 12) or equivalent.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years in retail (management experience is a bonus).
  • Skills:
    • Sales and service management expertise.
    • Budgeting and financial acumen.
    • Computer proficiency.
    • Excellent communication abilities.
    • Solid understanding of the retail trade and customer-focused products like cellular, mobile, and insurance.
