When and Where?
The internship is ideally scheduled to begin in early August 2025 and run through the end of December 2025. Interns can be based in any of the four locations, depending on availability and preference.

What Will Interns Do?
Interns will work closely with HRW staff within the Women’s Rights Division, engaging in meaningful research and advocacy projects. Their work will focus on critical issues at the intersection of women’s rights, land, natural resources, and socio-economic disparities, especially within the African context. Responsibilities include conducting desk research, analyzing gender-based violence data, familiarizing with international human rights standards, supporting policy analysis, drafting research reports, participating in meetings with partners, and monitoring relevant media stories.

Beyond these core tasks, interns will gain valuable experience in legal analysis, report writing, and advocacy strategies. They will also have the chance to attend lectures, trainings, and special events, expanding their professional network and deepening their understanding of global human rights issues.

Internship stipends vary by location. In the United States, interns earn $17.00 USD per hour, while in the United Kingdom, the rate is GBP 13.85 per hour. Canadian interns receive a monthly stipend of CAD 1,500, pro-rated based on hours. HRW also offers paid vacation days in accordance with local policies.
