Nabi begs the Kaizer Chiefs board for a player
Kaizer Chiefs boss Nasreddine Nabi isn’t hiding his desires with the January transfer window fast approaching.
Nabi asks the Kaizer Chiefs board for attacking reinforcements
Speaking to the media in his post-match presser, Nasreddine Nabi implored his board to chase and sign better quality in the imminent January transfer window.
“Again, we are missing opportunities to score,” the Kaizer Chiefs tactician said.
“And at the end, we, we tried everything to put more power, more risk forward, and fortunately, we got the point.
“But we feel that we are very, very far from the level of a team like Kaizer Chiefs, and we need to work hard, we need to strengthen the team but we’re gonna do everything we can for the future games.
“The perfect gift for Christmas time will be players that can strengthen the team,” the Kaizer Chiefs boss concluded.
The spine of a good team
In goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari, central defensive prodigy Rushwin Dortley, playmaker Mduduzi Shabalala, tricky winger Mfundo Vilakazi and classy ball player Samkelo Zwane, Chiefs have the building blocks for an excellent side. 22-year-old Dortley has acclimatized to the pressure and demands of top-flight football with consummate ease. He’s also a regular starter for Bafana Bafana. 20-year-old Mduduzi Shabalala struggled with inconsistency and a lack of game time during patches of 2023-2024 but this campaign has seen him come into his own in the number 10 role. With three goals and an assist in nine games in the league, he’s one of Chiefs’ most productive players. Like Dortley, he’s been an ever-present. Central midfielder Zwane has the tools to be a top-class operator too, provided he improves his defensive work and positioning off the ball. With a top-shelf striker at the sharp end, this team could be in business.
Tau launches scathing criticism
Despite head coach Nasreddine Nabi attributing the team’s woes to scoring inefficiencies, former Chiefs and Orlando Pirates star Jimmy Tau sees a much deeper problem. Speaking on SuperSport TV’s ExtraTime, Tau delivered a scathing assessment of Chiefs’ defensive structure and discipline.
“I think it [the problem at Chiefs] is more than scoring, it is defending, it is structure. It’s a discipline,” Tau stated. His critique stems from a glaring defensive lapse that led to Polokwane City’s second goal.

Long-term Frosler replacement?
According to Soccer-Laduma, Chiefs expect big things from 17-year-old Sfiso Timba. The Glamour Boys consider right-back a problem position. Neither Dillan Solomons nor Reeve Frosler have made the position their own this season.
Will Nabi get his wish in January?
