 The Gauteng Department of Infrastructure Development (DID) is inviting applications for its Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) under the National Youth Service (NYS) initiative. A total of 2,500 unemployed youth from Gauteng Province will be recruited for the 2025 – 2027 financial year, offering a valuable opportunity to gain workplace experience, skills development, and career exposure in various fields.

The recruitment process ensures fair representation and diversity, including:

  • 60% Female participants
  • 40% Male participants
  • 2% Persons with Disabilities (PWDs)
  • 100% Historically Disadvantaged Individuals (HDIs)

Eligibility Criteria for National Youth Service (NYS) EPWP Programme

To qualify for this opportunity, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Age Requirement: Youth between 18 to 33 years (participants must not exceed 35 years during the 24-month contract period)
  • Educational Qualification: Minimum Grade 10 pass or higher
  • Citizenship: Must possess a valid South African Identity Document (ID)
  • Availability: Candidates should be available for the full duration of the programme and be willing to sign a contract
  • Residency: This programme is exclusively for youth residing within Gauteng Province across the five key corridors:
    • City of Johannesburg
    • City of Tshwane
    • City of Ekurhuleni
    • Sedibeng District
    • West Rand District
  • Proximity to Work Site: Applicants must reside close to the project site for accessibility and convenience
  • Clean Criminal Record: Candidates must not have a criminal record

National Youth Service (NYS) EPWP x2500 Posts 2025

NB: Successful candidates will receive a stipend of R3500 per month for 24 months. Contracts will not be extended after 24 months from the start of the programme.
