Numerous residents had to be evacuated after a tornado in Pretoria left several buildings damaged. The City of Tshwane Emergency Services Department released a statement on 18 February 2025 detailing the effects of the storm. The tornado is said to have hit Montana in Pretoria North.

TORNADO IN PRETORIA CAUSES SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE

The tornado in Pretoria was reported to the Emergency Communication Centre (ECC) on Tuesday evening. Firefighters and officials from Disaster Risk Management Section were deployed. Various properties including buildings and vehicles were left damaged. Due to the exposure to the heavy rains, major damage was caused to the upper floors of the residential unit forcing evacuations.

The department further stated in their statement that residents had to be evacuated from buildings severely damaged by the tornado in Pretoria.
