Monnapule Saleng has been largely unsettled at Orlando Pirates this season for reasons undisclosed by him or the club.

Saleng has seen his game time drop drastically and there have been questions over his future at Pirates.

Saleng seems to be having problems at Pirates

Previously a key player, Saleng has not even been at training on more than a few occasions this season. This has led to speculation over his off-field behaviour or a possible fall out with coach Jose Riveiro. Being a Pirates fan darling, the supporters have become divided on their opinion on the situation. Others want clarity on the situation before placing judgement. Others have already concluded that the rumours of a high salary demand are true and are labelling him greedy. While some are siding with the player saying that he should be backed more by Riveiro and the club management.

Saleng was left out of more than five games late last year, and was not training during that period. He made an impressive return to action against Al Ahly and played a few more games after. Then out of nowhere, he was dropped completely. There have been pictures of him visibly upset on the grandstand while his teammates celebrated a goal by the club. Last week, he was left out of two games for Pirates, a loss to Cape Town City and a win against C.R Belouizdad. That has since raised more questions about his Pirates future.

Now according to a source speaking to KickOff.com Pirates received a bid from the Middle East for Saleng!

Offer was made to the Buccaneers for the winger!

“I had a meeting about Saleng with a top-ranking Pirates official in Hyde Park. My close contact, who is an agent in the UAE, tasked me with doing this deal here in South Africa and since he wasn’t a player in our stable, we did what we had to do in contacting the club after also contacting some people that we were told worked with him. Unfortunately, we couldn’t proceed, and it is sad that the boy is no longer enjoying as much game-time now,” said Rui Frois, who works as an agent on both the local and international markets.

It is unclear if a similar offer has come in for Saleng, but has not been accepted. That could explain hid current situation at the club. Pirates fans, would it be the right time to let the player go abroad? Or should he wait at least until the end of the season?
