The Orlando Pirates faithful have been left in the dark regarding Monnapule Saleng’s absence.

Although fit, healthy, and having started the season in scintillating fashion, the 26-year-old winger hasn’t featured since December 7 due to what the club labelled ‘personal issues’.

Nearly three months on, it appears this was far from the truth; instead, the friction lies between Orlando Pirates and Saleng, the latter’s agency, P Management Sports, revealed:

“We are aware of the ongoing speculation surrounding our client, Monnapule Saleng. While we have refrained from making public comments due to the sensitive and confidential nature of the matter, our silence should not be misconstrued as an endorsement of the narrative being presented against him,

“This matter involves significant issues at the core of the employer-employee relationship that require resolution. Our client remains committed to addressing these matters through the appropriate legal and professional channels,

“Given the confidentiality of the matter, we will not be engaging in further public discussions. Our priority remains to act in our client’s interests while advocating for a fair and amicable resolution. We trust that the proper processes will lead to an outcome that serves the best interests of all parties involved.”

After an extended period of no resolve, false rumours began emerging, such as Saleng being unhappy about Orlando Pirates unwillingness to listen to offers last offseason – P Management Sports wanted to put these accusations to bed.

DDC star set for promotion

According to reports, Orlando Pirates are trialling 19-year-old Mbekezeli Mbokazi, who has impressed from the get-go.

The defenders DDC coach, Joseph Makhanya, believes the Hluhluwe native has what it takes to be in the PSL:

“This platform (DDC League) is created for these boys. If you look at where Mbekezeli (Mbokazi) comes from, it was his first season last season but the strides he has made have been nothing short of amazing,

“Soon there’s an announcement that would be made, where we will no longer see Mbokazi in the DDC,

“You must think back where he is coming from, all the way from Hluhluwe. It was even difficult to talk to him about tactics, so you needed to make sure that you speak to him in his own language, and he became comfortable and once he became comfortable he became a leader,

“He is now a leader, and this is what Pirates is about, giving opportunities to youngsters from all different spheres of the country. The Diski Challenge is about giving chances to the young ones, we have seen how Rele (Relebohile Mofokeng) and Mohau (Mohau Nkota) have progressed, they are all coming from this group.”

Should Orlando Pirates try keep Saleng?
