Orlando Pirates given ultimatum on Monnapule Saleng!
Orlando Pirates winger Monnapule Saleng has dominated the headlines in recent weeks, yet no one knows what is influencing him not being on the squad.
The Buccaneers attempted to cover it up by linking it to Saleng’s ‘personal issues’; many believe it’s because the Soweto giant refused to sell the 26-year-old last year amid Monaco and Standard Liege’s interest.
Sports journalist Robert Marawa apparently know’s the true reasoning behind his absence, and has given Orlando Pirates 48 hours to cough-up the details, otherwise he will.
“We have the story but giving the Club their 48hrs to address their fans on the matter,” Marawa wrote on X. “Otherwise, we will.”
Riveiro has little to say
Jose Riveiro has been peppered with Saleng questions since consistently leaving him out of the squad in October, and has provided to little-to-no explanation on the matter:
“I don’t speak about the health of my players; it’s something that belongs to a private space,” said Riveiro.
“And the moment that the club feels that it’s the time to speak about which players are injured, how long they are going to take, and which moment of the process (of recovery) they are in, they will do it. It’s not part of my job description, (and) it’s not an ethical thing,
“I know it will be nice to know how close is Olisa [Ndah] or [Goodman] Mosele and what’s happening with Saleng but it’s not going to happen.”
Should Orlando Pirates try keep Saleng?
